Accounts and saved items

An account is needed for actions that are tied to you:

• Verifying and reporting places.
• Adding a place.
• Saving places and areas.
• Following the activity of your saved areas.

You do not need an account to browse the map, search, read place details, read or add comments, or boost a merchant.

Creating an account

Open Settings → Account and choose to create a new account. Enter a username and a password. Passwords must be at least 8 characters and have to be entered twice to confirm.

If the account is created but signing in fails, the app tells you so and you can sign in normally.

Signing in

Already have an account? Use the sign-in option with your username and password. A slow sign-in can be cancelled and will time out rather than leaving a spinner stuck.

You stay signed in until you log out, including across app restarts. Signing out also revokes the session on the server.

Your profile

Once signed in, Settings → Account opens your profile, where you can:

• See your username.
• Change username.
• Change password — enter the current password and the new one twice. The new password must be at least 8 characters.
• Review your saved places and saved areas, and remove any of them.
• Logout.

Saving places and areas

• On a place, use the Save bookmark action in its menu.
• On an area, use the Save action in its toolbar.

The first time you save something while signed out, the app asks you to sign in and then completes the action. Saved items are listed in your profile, and the areas you save are what the Following tab of the activity feed draws from.

A note on your session

Signing in stores a session token in the app’s private database. Backups are disabled, so it is not copied off the device, and the token is only ever sent to the configured API host.
